  • AV Essentials Class Coming To Portland January 2018

    Local 28 has been offered an opportunity to bring the

    Audio Visual (AV) Essentials Class

    to Portland.

    Update: Classes Postponed until January

    AV Essentials - A four-day, hands on classroom course that is part of the InfoComm/IATSE Live Event Technician Certificate Program. The course is designed for IATSE workers who want to become Audiovisual Technicians and is the first step to become a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS). The course and all student materials are free.

    Local 28 currently has contracts and positions which will need to be filled by members of Local 28 or 488 with CTS Certification. These are good paying, union jobs working with hotels and confernece facilities to present live events.

    Class Details:

    • You must email Michael Johnson, Local 28 to express your interest in taking this course.
    • You will need to follow instruction below to sign up for InfoComm Membership.
    • There will be 4 days of class and the proposed dates for the class are in January of 2018.
    • In addition, participants will be required to complete 3 online classes as pre-requisites to take this class. Once you are a memebr of InfoComm you are free to take these pre-requisite courses at any time.

    For us to get the AV Essentials class in Portland we must have a minimum number of people to sign up.

    Also please look over the AV Skills page (linked above) as well as the attached article on AV Essentials. If you have interest in taking the AV Essentials course you will also need to apply for free Membership in InfoComm, the organization providing the training for AV Essentails.
